Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayNew York Yankees left fielder Jasson Dominguez suffered a scary-looking injury in Thursday's home game against the Texas Rangers.
Dominguez, who was starting in the outfield for a second time this season, crashed into the left field wall at Yankee Stadium while chasing and catching Rangers right fielder Brandon Nimmo's lead-off line drive in the top of the first inning. His head and left shoulder slammed into a video advertising board while catching the ball.
Dominguez was then carted off the field. Chelsea James of SNY-TV in New York noted the outfielder was up and moving before he hopped onto the cart. He was seen looking emotional as he left.

— Yankees Videos (@snyyankees) May 7, 2026After a player enters concussion protocol, he's evaluated using mandatory testing and placed on the seven-day injured list (via MLB.com). If diagnosed with a concussion, he must clear a multistage process, which includes a clean bill of health from a specialist.
The Yankees said Jasson Dominguez was examined by team physician Dr. Chris Ahmad at Yankee Stadium and underwent an initial concussion assessment. He has been placed in concussion protocol and will continue to be monitored and evaluated over the next several days.
Additionally,…
Details about Dominguez's left shoulder remain unclear, but if he did suffer something that would force him to miss more time, that would be unlucky for the outfielder. The highly touted prospect looked like he may be on the verge of breaking out after a slow start.
The Yankees optioned 23-year-old Dominguez to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on March 20. He returned to the majors on April 27 and slashed .111/.200/.111 in his first nine at-bats, but over his last 21 at-bats, he had slashed .238/.273/.476.
After Dominguez left, New York right fielder Cody Bellinger moved to left. Third baseman Amed Rosario, a utility man, took Bellinger's spot in right.
Bellinger, a two-time All-Star, has played in left field for most of the season. Trent Grisham can also play there.
Injuries are beginning to pile up for the Yankees. First baseman/catcher Ben Rice injured his left hand in an 11-3 win over the Baltimore Orioles on May 3 and remains out of the lineup. This, along with Dominguez possibly missing multiple games, could serve as an early test of the team's depth.
