Reliever Woo-Suk Go went unclaimed on waivers and elected free agency over the weekend, according to the MiLB.com transaction log. The Twins designated him for assignment on Friday to open a roster spot for top prospect Walker Jenkins.

Minnesota acquired Go in a minor trade with Detroit at the beginning of July. The Korean-born pitcher was performing well with the Tigers’ top affiliate, working to a 2.60 ERA with a 29% strikeout rate across 27 2/3 innings. The Twins gave him his first MLB look. Go made it into four games, allowing four runs in as many innings on eight hits and two walks.

The Twins optioned Go to Triple-A St. Paul in late July. He was ejected from his first appearance and issued an eight-game ban for using a foreign substance. Go was blown up a few times after coming back, including a three-game stretch in which he walked 10 batters in four innings.

That lack of command has been the main hangup for Go since he came over from the KBO in 2024. The 28-year-old has decent stuff, sitting in the 94-95 mph range and throwing a slider, curveball and splitter. He’s striking out 31% of opponents with a 12% walk rate in the minors this year. Go has combined for a 3.91 ERA across 50 2/3 frames between the Detroit and Minnesota systems.
