Daniel is an experienced football writer and editor, having worked in the football media industry for over a decade.

Daizen Maeda is the only major player to move on from Celtic so far this summer after his £10m move to the Premier League was confirmed last week.
The Japan international departs after scoring 30 goals in the previous two Scottish Premiership campaigns combined, and will have a chance to shine down south with Ipswich Town.
Maeda may not be the only big-name departure from Parkhead before the end of the summer transfer window, though, as Arne Engels is attracting interest from elsewhere.
West Ham United, Nottingham Forest, and Crystal Palace are all eyeing up moves for the Belgium international, who is valued at £25m by the Premiership champions.
Why Celtic should cash in on Arne Engels
Celtic should be open to selling the former Augsburg star, who scored on his last appearance in the SFA Cup final against Dunfermline, if any of those three teams come in with a significant offer for his services.
The 22-year-old talent enjoyed a strong debut campaign in the Premiership after his £11m club-record move from Augsburg, scoring nine goals and creating 11 'big chances', but his second season fell flat by comparison.
Engels was not as influential in the 2025/26 campaign for the Hoops, failing to provide as much quality in the final third, and that is a cause for concern heading into next season.

The worry for Celtic is that he may continue to regress on the pitch if they opt against cashing in on him this summer, given the drop-off in output in his second year at Parkhead.
That is why the board should be actively looking to take advantage of interest from West Ham, Forest, and Palace to bank a profit on the Belgian, then using that money to bring in new recruits to bolster the squad.
Celtic's next Arne Engels is desperate to join them
In fact, the club are currently in the process of trying to sign a talent who could come in as a replacement for Engels before they cash in on himn.
CeltsAreHere reports that Celtic are still pushing to secure the signing of Paderborn central midfielder Mika Baur before the end of the summer transfer window.
The outlet reports that the club have had an offer of £4m turned down by the German side, yet they continue to pursue a deal for the 22-year-old talent.
It adds that the Germany U21 international is ‘desperate’ to seal a transfer to Parkhead, as he has his heart set on a move to the club, and that personal terms have already been ironed out.
Celtic could allow themselves to sell Engels if they secure a deal for Baur in the coming weeks because the Paderborn star is cut from the same cloth as the Belgian.
Like the Hoops midfielder, the German maestro is a central midfielder who looks to support the attack to provide goals and assists to change games for his team.

The Celtic target ranked highly among his positional peers in a host of attacking metrics in the 2. Bundesliga last term, as he helped Paderborn to earn promotion to the Bundesliga.
Engels is, of course, famed for his ability to score and create goals from midfield for the Scottish giants, particularly using his crossing quality to create chances for his teammates.
The Belgian star ranked in the top 4% of Premiership midfielders for successful crosses (29) in the league last term, which suggests that Baur could be an even more prolific crosser from midfield for the club.
Paderborn's star midfielder could take over from Engels as Celtic's main source of attacking quality from the middle of the park, given what he has shown as both a scorer and a creator of goals in Germany.
Whilst he is unproven in Scotland, Engels has already shown what can be achieved from making the switch from Germany to Scotland, which is why Baur could be an exciting addition to the squad.
Bringing the £4m+ star in would then allow the board to safely cash in on the Belgium international, knowing that Martin O'Neill already has a ready-made replacement in the building.
