The Chicago White Sox have gotten unexpected contributions from several players all season long.

One of those has been All-Star outfielder Tristan Peters. The 26-year-old is having a breakout rookie campaign that has included an All-Star Game selection, a cycle and now a home run that etched his team into MLB history.

Tristan Peters homered for a fifth straight game

Peters entered Wednesday having homered in four straight games. Due to that, he was penciled into the starting lineup against a left-hander for just the fifth time all season.

Peters certainly delivered for his club, as he homered for the fifth consecutive game. It continued the stellar rookie season Peters is having and made history in the process.

The White Sox have two rookies with five-game home run streaks this season

Peters joined fellow rookie Munetaka Murakami as the second White Sox rookie to have a five-game home run streak this season. 

According to Sarah Langs, Chicago is the first team since 1900 to have that happen in one season.

Can the White Sox offense be a true postseason threat?

It's no secret that the Chicago pitching staff has been subpar (4.16 ERA, 16th in MLB), but the offense has the potential to carry the team through a postseason series.

The White Sox have entered Wednesday with 176 home runs this season, the second most in the American League and fourth most in all of baseball.

Chicago has three players (Colson Montgomery, Miguel Vargas, Munetaka Murakami) with 27-plus home runs. It is the type of offense that can get hot at any time and homer its way through a postseason series.
