A memorable victory at Lord’s gave the Indian mixed disability cricket team a chance to recreate one of the most famous celebrations associated with the venue. After defeating England by 118 runs in the seventh and final T20I of the series, the Indian players and officials gathered at the Lord’s balcony and paid tribute to Sourav Ganguly’s iconic celebration from 2002. The victory ended India’s campaign on a high, although England had already secured the seven-match series 4-3.

A video shared by the Differently Abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI) showed the Indian players and officials recreating Ganguly’s famous shirt-waving celebration at the Lord’s balcony. The players removed their blazers and waved them in the air while celebrating their victory at the historic venue, mirroring the moment Ganguly created 24 years ago after India defeated England in the NatWest Trophy final.

The DCCI also shared the moment on social media, writing:“When India wins at Lord’s, the celebrations hit different.”

India complete 118-run victory over England

India produced their strongest batting performance of the series after being asked to bat first. Arjun Gawre led the scoring with a 68 off 44 balls, while captain Majid Magray provided a stunning finish with an unbeaten 63 from only 19 deliveries. Their efforts helped India post 206 for 4, their highest total of the seven-match series. Sai Akash also made a valuable contribution as India finished with a challenging total on the board.

England’s chase never got going as India’s bowlers dominated from the beginning. Hilal Ahmad Wani led the attack with impressive figures of 4 for 21, while Jayesh Parmar added three wickets for 14 runs. England were eventually bowled out for just 88, handing India a massive 118-run victory at Lord’s.

Despite the emphatic win, England finished the series ahead with a 4-3 scoreline. For India, however, the memorable victory at Lord’s provided the perfect opportunity to recreate a celebration that remains firmly etched in the history of Indian cricket.
