UFC title contender Wang Cong isn’t surprised by her UFC 332 title opportunity as she prepares to square off against Natalia Silva.

At UFC 332 this weekend, Wang Cong has the chance to complete a quick rise to the top of the UFC women’s flyweight division. She will go head to head with Natalia Silva for the belt, with the winner eventually expected to take on Valentina Shevchenko when she returns from injury.

Wang Cong hasn’t had things all her own way in the promotion, but it’s safe to say she has made an impression, and if she can get back to her violent best on Saturday, there is every chance she will become a UFC world champion by the end of the night.

In a recent interview, Wang Cong made it clear that she isn’t too surprised that she got the call to be put into such a position.

“I’m not surprised,” Wang told MMA Fighting about her title fight opportunity. “Because how the rankings go either has a fight booked or they just fought. I’m on a four [fight] win streak and I think it’s my time.

“I’m always ready for a championship fight. I never take a long break after any of my fights. Even if I only had 17 days to prepare for this fight, my cardio is there.”

“It’s going to be two world-class strikers,” Wang said. “We’re competing and the key to win the fight is takes the rhythm of the fight. It also comes down to desire, who wants it more and we’ll go against each other in the fight.”

It may not be the title fight that everyone expected for this card, but it certainly has the potential to be a barnburner.
