Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayA Victor Wembanyama 1-of-1 numbered 2023-24 Panini Prizm Black parallel sold for $5.11 million through a private sale via Fanatics Collect, the company confirmed to ESPN, establishing a new record for any Wembanyama trading card by a wide margin.
The sale ranks as the fourth-highest price ever paid for a basketball card and 11th overall in sports card history. It also stands as the most expensive known transaction involving a non-autographed NBA card and the third sports card to surpass $5 million in 2026.
The previous Wembanyama record was $860,100, set at a February 2025 Goldin auction for a separate 1-of-1 parallel from the same Prizm product. No licensed Wembanyama autographed rookie cards exist, as he holds an exclusive deal with Fanatics, which assumed the NBA's exclusive trading card license in October. Panini held that license during his rookie season.
The card carries a Professional Sports Authenticator grade of 10, though its history has drawn scrutiny within the collecting community. A 2024 video showed then-owner Thomas Lindenthal thanking Kurt's Card Care upon receiving the grade, a company whose products are marketed to clean card surfaces and restore edges.
PSA prohibits grading altered cards, including those showing any evidence of cleaning or foreign substances applied to the surface.
