Newcastle's summer recruitment drive shows no sign of slowing down, with Eddie Howe continuing to strengthen his squad.
One position attracting particular attention right now is between the sticks.
The Magpies recently agreed a deal to sign Ewen Jaouen from Reims, with the highly-rated French stopper viewed as another exciting young talent for the future.
Newcastle moved quickly to secure the keeper after reaching an agreement with the Ligue 1 side, demonstrating the club's ongoing commitment to investing in emerging prospects.
However, Jaouen's arrival does not appear to have ended Newcastle's search for goalkeeping reinforcements.
Now backed by David Ornstein, after reports linked them with James Trafford for months, the club retain a strong interest in the Man City number two despite sealing the Jaouen deal.
Trafford has been admired by Newcastle for a considerable period and remains one of the most highly-rated young goalkeepers in English football.
Better than Gordon: Newcastle in talks to sign massive striker upgrade
Newcastle are revamping their frontline following Anthony Gordon's sale to Barcelona.
The England international, who was included in Thomas Tuchel's World Cup squad, continues to attract interest from several Premier League clubs, including Tottenham and Aston Villa, but Newcastle are believed to remain firmly in the race should an opportunity arise.
That situation highlights the ambition currently driving recruitment at St James' Park under Ross Wilson, but their transfer planning extends beyond defence too.
Newcastle recently opened talks over a deal for Osasuna rising star Victor Munoz, who was rewarded for his fine La Liga form with a nod in Spain's World Cup squad.
The 22-year-old was previously a youth player at both Real Madrid and Barcelona, with the former selling him to Osasuna for around £5 million last summer.
Victor Munoz deliberates tempting Newcastle offer
According to Cadena SER journalist Anton Meana, Newcastle have made an attractive proposal to Munoz.
The Spanish winger is regarded as one of the brightest attacking talents to emerge from Madrid's academy system and has attracted growing interest from clubs across Europe thanks to his performances at youth level.
Meana reports that Munoz's representatives are currently assessing Newcastle's 'good offer' alongside interest from other clubs.
However, the player's camp are said to be weighing up their options before making a final decision on the next step in his career.
His agent could even push for money.
"Víctor Muñoz's agent has a good offer from Newcastle and other clubs," said Meana.
"They are currently deciding whether to accept the Magpies' proposal or push harder to get more money."
Meana adds that Real have a hefty sell-on clause, and if the expected £35m transfer to St. James' goes through, Jose Mourinho's side would get half of the fee.
"It would be around 35-40 million euros, with Real Madrid receiving 50% of the transfer fee."
The Magpies have increasingly targeted elite young talent in recent transfer windows and Munoz appears to fit that strategy perfectly.
Still only at the beginning of his professional journey, the winger is viewed by many scouts as a player with enormous potential.
His pace, direct running and confidence in one-on-one situations have helped him establish a strong reputation within Spanish football circles.
Munoz bagged 12 goal contributions in all competitions for Osasuna last term, completing more successful take-ons per 90 than anyone else in their squad (WhoScored).
He also averaged an impressive 2.4 shots at goal per 90, a higher number than any Newcastle player in the Premier League last season, including Anthony Gordon.
Munoz would be an excellent coup for Howe, but there is always the danger of other clubs moving in as talks remain ongoing.
