The Van Venrooy KTM Racing Team celebrated a top-ten finish at the MXGP of Flanders in Lommel, with Noel Zanocz delivering the team’s strongest results of the weekend. The young Hungarian finished 11th and ninth in the two motos, while Jeremy Seewer battled to 17th place in both races. Rick Elzinga was unfortunately forced to withdraw from Sunday’s races due to illness.

On the demanding sand circuit of Lommel, Zanocz began the weekend by qualifying 19th fastest in timed practice before finishing 14th in Saturday’s qualifying race. The young Hungarian made a significant step forward on Sunday. He crossed the finish line in 11th place in the opening moto before securing an impressive ninth-place finish in race two to claim a top-ten result.

Seewer recorded the 18th fastest time in timed practice before finishing 16th in the qualifying race. The Swiss rider remained consistent throughout Sunday’s gruelling motos, taking 17th place in both races.

Elzinga’s weekend started on a promising note. The Dutch rider posted the eighth-fastest lap in timed practice, demonstrating strong speed in the deep Lommel sand. However, his physical condition deteriorated due to illness during the qualifying race, forcing him to retire early. Although Elzinga attempted to take part in Sunday’s warm-up session, he had not recovered sufficiently to compete safely in the Grand Prix races. After consulting with the team, the decision was made to withdraw from Sunday’s motos and focus entirely on his recovery.

Despite a challenging weekend, the Van Venrooy KTM Racing Team leaves Lommel with several positives. Zanocz’s ninth-place finish once again underlined his growing confidence and competitiveness in the highly competitive MXGP class, while Seewer and Elzinga will now focus on recovery and preparation for the next round.

Following a weekend off, the FIM Motocross World Championship resumes on August 15–16 with the MXGP of Sweden in Uddevalla.
