The Professional Fighters League is looking to regain some lost momentum after the recent departure of Francis Ngannou. As the league continues to progress through a leadership change, some of the PFL’s top stars will play major roles in the future of the UFC alternative.
PFL lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov, the cousin of UFC Hall of Famer Khabib Nurmagomedov, remains one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the sport after recent wins over Alfie Davis and Paul Hughes. He remains unbeaten in his career and could potentially re-sign with the PFL in his upcoming free agency.
In addition to Nurmagomedov, PFL flyweight star Dakota Ditcheva is the biggest female star in the promotion after defeating former UFC title challenger Taila Santos for the 2025 PFL flyweight title.
As the PFL prepares for its upcoming summer event slate, Nurmagomedov and Ditcheva will co-headline the promotion’s return to the Empire State.
Usman Nurmagomedov vs. Archie Colgan headlines PFL Long Island
As announced by the PFL on Tuesday, Nurmagomedov will headline the July 31st event on Long Island against surging contender Archie Colgan. Ditcheva will fight in the co-main event against former Bellator title challenger Denise Kielholtz.
Nurmagomedov will face a tough stylistic matchup in Colgan, an elite wrestler with one-punch knockout power. Colgan most recently defeated Jay-Jay Wilson in October and is unbeaten through his first 13 professional fights.
Ditcheva vs. Kielholtz is also an intriguing stylistic matchup in the co-headliner. Kielholtz returns to the cage riding a three-fight win streak, including a recent win over Antonia Silvaneide in February.
The full PFL Long Island card is expected to be announced and finalized in the coming weeks.
