A ranked heavyweight is no longer on the UFC roster.

Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that the promotion has parted ways with Martin Buday following his decision win over Marcus Buchecha at UFC Abu Dhabi this past Saturday. Buday’s victory served as the final bout on his contract, and the promotion elected not to re-sign him.

Buday went 7-1 during his eight fight UFC run, with the lone loss coming via TKO to Shamil Gaziev at UFC 296 in December 2023. “Badys” won his past three octagon appearances, including a victory over former champ Andrei Arlovski, and former LFA champ Uran Satybaldiev. Buday exits the roster as the No. 12 ranked UFC heavyweight.

The Contender Series alum also picked up victories against fan-favorite Chris Barnett, along with a first-round submission victory against Josh Parisian in August 2023. The 33-year-old also captured the OKTAGON heavyweight title prior to signing with the UFC.
