Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayUFC legend Matt Brown has a lot of questions for Jack Della Maddalena’s team after a lopsided defeat at UFC 322.
Jack Della Maddalena’s short-lived UFC welterweight title reign came to an abrupt end at the hands of Islam Makhachev at UFC 322 last weekend in New York City. After five rounds, Makhachev walked away with Maddalena’s belt and a unanimous decision victory.
Maddalena looked visibly dejected in between rounds throughout the UFC 322 main event. As Maddalena’s team attempted to fire up their pupil in the later rounds, Maddalena wasn’t able to push the pace to retain his title.

Matt Brown critical of Jack Della Maddalena’s team after UFC 322
In a recent episode of MMA Fighting’s The Fighter vs. The Writer, UFC veteran Matt Brown criticized how Maddalena’s team handled cornering in between rounds at UFC 322.
“It seemed very odd to me like they were just trying to fire him up the whole time,” Brown said of Maddalena.
“I said he could be as fired up as he wants, if he doesn’t start doing something different, it’s not going to help. He’s fighting hard as hell, grimacing the whole time. He’s squeezing as hard as he can, fighting against those submissions as hard as he can. The guy is giving it his all. Telling him to give it more is not going to help a single thing. If anything, tell him to relax a little bit.
“One of the things I’m big on with cornering, it’s very difficult to stay in the moment,” Brown continued. “We always think about what happened in the last round. I think it’s a lot like golf. You can’t worry about where you just hit the ball. You have to worry about where you’re going to hit the ball next to get closer to the pin. If you’re sitting there thinking about your last shot, you’re just mentally f—— yourself.”
