The Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua fight looks like it may finally be heading to the UK, but it could result in the date being pushed back.

Issues over the past few weeks led to serious doubts over whether the all-British heavyweight bout would even happen, with event organisers SELA and broadcaster Netflix keen for it to be in New York, while Joshua and promoter Eddie Hearn stood firm on the original contract for it to take palce in the UK.

It seems that ‘AJ’ and Hearn may have succeeded, after it emerged in the last 24 hours that Cardiff’s Principality Stadium is the new frontrunner for the contest, but the initially proposed November 20 date may no longer be likely.

Instead, Fury’s manager Spencer Brown has told Sky Sports that December is now an option, due to the close proximity to Christmas.

“November and December are both in play but we like December as an option, everyone would be winding up work for the holidays, it would be the best Christmas party in the world.

“It’s inching closer and it looks like it could be the British Boxing Bonanza that we all hoped for taking place in Britain. Three venues are still under consideration with Cardiff and Wembley still in the running.

“It’s looking good, Tyson has been onboard with fighting AJ since the start and he will fight him anywhere.”

Brown’s optimism is a good sign for fight fans that the clash will indeed happen, despite the latest war of words between Zuffa Boxing chief Dana White and Matchroom promoter Hearn over the battle.
