The stoppage completed Fury’s dominant display, but Wach’s late success offered rivals something to study.

Tyson Fury stopped Mariusz Wach in seven rounds after the ringside doctor advised the referee to halt the heavyweight fight in Pattaya. The victory came with one notable concern as Wach caught Fury clean late in the fight, providing a reminder of the defensive discipline required for bigger tests ahead.

Fury established his jab immediately, mixed orthodox and southpaw stances, and dictated the distance from the opening round. Wach struggled to close the distance as Fury picked him off with straight shots, body jabs and combinations while staying comfortably out of danger.

The former heavyweight champion increased the pace through the middle rounds. He found regular success with uppercuts after the referee separated clinches, while Wach repeatedly leaned on Fury in an attempt to disrupt his rhythm. The 46-year-old absorbed heavy punishment without taking a backward step, showing the durability that has defined his long career.

Despite Fury’s command, the finish did not come quickly.

Wach continued to absorb clean punches and remained on his feet as Fury boxed behind his jab, switched stance with ease and landed combinations from both hands. The fight briefly turned light-hearted when Fury kissed Wach during a clinch in the sixth round, drawing a roar from the crowd before immediately returning to work.

The closing moments produced the fight’s biggest surprise.

Early in the seventh, Wach landed two clean right hands that caught Fury flush, exposing a rare defensive oversight. Fury immediately regained control, answered with the cleaner punches and finished the round in command, but the exchange offered a reminder that sharper heavyweight punchers are unlikely to let similar openings pass.

The referee then called the ringside doctor to inspect Wach before waving the contest off, awarding Fury a seventh-round stoppage victory.

Fury’s footwork, feints, jab and distance control were comfortably beyond Wach’s throughout the contest, but the two right hands he absorbed will attract almost as much attention as the stoppage itself with a proposed showdown against Anthony Joshua continuing to dominate the heavyweight schedule.

The victory keeps Fury active and extends his momentum, but cleaner defensive work will be expected if his next assignment comes against the division’s leading contenders.
