At this past weekend’s ‘UFC Freedom 250’ event, Tyson Fury appeared as Dana White’s special guest and teased a big announcement. Now, his manager, Spencer Brown, has provided an update.

Though Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have now signed to face off at the end of this year, pending ‘warm-up’ fights, talk of who will be involved in the promotion has led some to believe that the fight is not as concrete as it could be. White has consistently claimed to be involved in a big way, but UK promoters Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren dispute this.

In response to Fury’s US appearance at the MMA event, fans began to speculate on whether Fury has left long-time promoter Warre, in order to sign with White’s Zuffa Boxing.

However, speaking to iFL TV, manager Spencer Brown claimed that, as far as he knows, Frank Warren is still Fury’s promoter and that boxing powerbroker Turki Al-Alshikh is the promoter of the event. 

“All that I can tell you, in all honesty, is that we are in the same position that we [were]. Turki Al-Alshikh is promoting this fight, he is the person behind the whole fight, he is the one who suggested the fight, he is the one who put it all together.

“Obviously, Eddie Hearn is involved, Frank Warren is involved with Tyson as his promoter. Like I’ve told you a million times, nothing has changed here. If there is an announcement, then I don’t know whether Tyson has done sort of deal with nobody knowing – I wouldn’t have thought that!”

Recent reports suggest that Fury-Joshua may now take place in Las Vegas rather than at Wembley Stadium – meaning a renegotiation, given Joshua’s contract says that the fight must take place in the UK, could be necessary.
