Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing the Liverpool attacker Cody Gakpo this summer.

According to journalist Joost Blaauwhof, all parties are convinced the transfer is now very realistic. The chance of the Netherlands International moving to the North London club is now quite high. However, Liverpool are yet to agree on a deal with Tottenham. It remains to be seen whether the London club can come forward with an acceptable offer for Gakpo.

Blaauwhof wrote on X: “Among all parties, conviction is starting to prevail that the transfer of Cody Gakpo to Spurs is becoming very realistic. Chance of success is now quite high. But Liverpool still needs to agree. Manager Roberto De Zerbi hasn’t let go so far. It’s Gakpo all the way.”

Tottenham manager Roberto de Zerbi is reportedly very interested in signing the Netherlands attacker, and he is unwilling to abandon the pursuit.

Gakpo has been a very useful player since joining the club, and it remains to be seen whether the Merseyside outfit is prepared to let him leave. They need more quality and depth in the attacking unit. Although the Netherlands international is not indispensable, he could still be a vital option in the final third. He can operate anywhere across the front three, and he will score goals and create opportunities for his teammates.

On the other hand, Tottenham need more cutting-edge in the final third. They have done well to improve the midfield and defence this summer. They will need to add more goals to the team if they want to fight for Champions League qualification next season. They will also look to do well in the cup competitions.

Signing the Liverpool attacker could prove to be a wise decision. However, Liverpool are under no pressure to sanction his departure, and they are likely to demand a premium. It will be interesting to see if the two clubs can work out a deal.
