Tottenham Hotspur have stepped up their pursuit of a new wide forward with a formal offer for Benfica star Andreas Schjelderup.
Roberto De Zerbi is determined to add more firepower to his attack before the transfer window closes, with links to the likes of Manchester City winger Savinho and Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo.
Both players remain under consideration and would offer proven Premier League experience, but neither deal has yet been sealed.
More than one attacker could be signed before the deadline, which has brought Schjelderup firmly into focus.

Tottenham make £47m offer for Schjelderup
According to reports from Portugal, relayed via Sport Witness, Tottenham have submitted their first official proposal for the Benfica winger.
The offer is worth €45m upfront, with a further €10m in bonuses, taking the total package to €55m (£47m).
Benfica appear to be interested in receiving that figure, but would like the payment structure altered. The Portuguese giants are after €50m guaranteed with the remaining €5m made up of achievable bonuses.
It appears as if a move may well be on the cards, and it’s easy to understand why Tottenham are so keen. Schjelderup enjoyed an excellent season with Benfica in 2025/26, registering 10 goals and seven assists in 44 appearances across all competitions.
His reputation only grew during the World Cup, where he scored a memorable goal against England in Norway's quarter-final defeat, embarassing Jordan Pickford in the process.
The Norwegian's potential has also caught the eye of former Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien, who believes Schjelderup has the ability to play for Real Madrid, praising the winger's technical quality, intelligence and ceiling as one of Europe's most exciting young talents.
From Tottenham's perspective, Schjelderup appears an ideal fit for De Zerbi's football. Primarily playing on the left, cutting in on his right foot, the 22-year-old combines close control, creativity and an eye for goal with the confidence to attack defenders one-on-one.
Drifting inside from wide areas could suit De Zerbi's fluid attacking system, while his age means there is still room for further development.
Negotiations now appear to be on the structure of a deal rather than the overall fee, so Tottenham may soon get an attacking addition De Zerbi has been after for a while.
