The Timberwolves reportedly explored a trade for Jaylen Brown before ultimately deciding to acquire LaMelo Ball instead, according to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic.

Minnesota viewed Ball as a better fit for its roster while also requiring a smaller trade package than Brown.

Earlier reports from Brian Windhorst indicated that the Timberwolves’ offers for both Brown and Giannis Antetokounmpo were not enough to complete a deal.

Boston continues to evaluate the market for Brown after previously including him in trade discussions with Milwaukee for Antetokounmpo.

With Minnesota no longer in the mix following the Ball trade, one potential destination has been removed from the list of suitors.

The Hawks, Rockets, and Trail Blazers have also been connected to Brown in recent reports, while the Raptors were involved in discussions for Ball before Minnesota completed the deal.

Although the Celtics have not decided whether they will move Brown this offseason, Shams Charania recently reported there is “a sense of purpose” behind the organization’s ongoing trade conversations.

Brown is entering the 2026-27 season with three years and $183 million remaining on his contract and becomes eligible for a two-year, $141.8 million extension later this summer.
