“I want to hurt him,” said Tszyu to Main Event. “I really want to do damage.”

Spence will enter the fight after roughly three years out of the ring following his loss to Terence Crawford in July 2023. Tszyu admitted he believes the timing could favor him against a fighter returning from such a long absence. The fight will reportedly take place at a 158-pound catchweight limit.

“Probably,” said Tszyu when asked if he is catching Spence at the right time.

“I don’t think I’m expecting the Errol Spence that was fighting Kell Brook back in the days. That type of fighter. But we shall see.”

Tszyu revealed he has wanted the fight for years and said his issues with Spence date back to comments made during the build-up to his 2023 fight against Tony Harrison.

“Ever since he started talking smack on Twitter and saying that Harrison was going to beat me and this and this and this and just bagging me out, calling me trash,” said Tszyu.

“I was like, you know what? I really want to get this guy.”

Tszyu also said he plans to start fast instead of taking time to study Spence early in the fight. He recently returned home to Australia after spending time training in Miami and is now working with former world champion Jeff Fenech ahead of the matchup.

“I want to come in red hot,” said Tszyu. “No feel-out this time. I want to go straight for his head.”

The fight will headline a card in Australia on July 26.
