Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayThe Hall of Famer says the $2.14 million guarantee reflects Davis’ market value today, while victory could unlock far bigger purses.
Tim Bradley believes the biggest prize in Devin Haney vs. Keyshawn Davis isn’t the purse split. He says beating Haney would transform Davis into one of boxing’s biggest attractions, making the guaranteed $2.14 million only part of the opportunity.
“I think it’s fair,” Bradley said on his YouTube channel. “Some people might think it’s not, but it’s about fair. Keyshawn ain’t never made over $2 million in his damn life. He ain’t never made over that type of money. He’s made a mil for sure, but not over $2 million. This is perfect for him.”
Under the WBO purse bid, Davis is entitled to 25 percent of the winning $8.55 million bid, guaranteeing him $2,137,500. Devin Haney receives the remaining 75 percent, or $6,412,500.
Bradley also cast doubt on claims that Davis previously turned down a guaranteed $3 million offer, although he stopped short of saying it never happened.
“I don’t think $3 million was offered on the table, but let’s say if it was, now you’re getting short money,” Bradley said. “That’s good money. That’s great money because the opportunity is a little bit bigger than that.”
Bradley believes the biggest reward isn’t the purse. In his view, defeating Haney would elevate Davis into one of boxing’s biggest attractions, putting him in position to command much larger paydays.
Rather than reject the purse bid, Bradley urged Davis to accept the fight.
“You got to take this damn fight, bro,” Bradley said. “You have to. It’s necessary. It’s a title on the line. This is the biggest fight for you, man. This is an opportunity to start your legacy for real.”
