The Oklahoma City Thunder fell short in their title defense after losing a seven-game Western Conference Finals series to the San Antonio Spurs, but the organization’s long-term plans appear unchanged.
Despite speculation surrounding potential roster changes following the disappointing finish, Oklahoma City has reportedly made it clear that its core trio of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren remains untouchable.
“The message Oklahoma City is sending out is they’re not touching that core,” Brian Windhorst said on ESPN’s Get Up. “You can choose not to believe them if you want. They say they’re running it back.”
The message suggests Oklahoma City still believes its core can contend for championships.
