Daniel is an experienced football writer and editor, having worked in the football media industry for over a decade.

After voluntarily writing for Fresh Press for two years, helping to build and establish the Read brand, Daniel started a part-time job with Fresh Press that later turned into a full-time writing and editing role, writing for club-specific pages such as Read Norwich, Read Celtic, Read Liverpool, and Read Arsenal.

Daniel spent just shy of a year writing and editing for Liverpool-based website, Anfield Watch, which included conducting and/or transcribing interviews with Liverpool goalkeeping coach John Achterberg, former Wycombe striker Adebayo Akinfenwa, and journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Since the summer of 2021, Daniel has worked for Snack Media (now Valnet) and has been a contributor to Football FanCast, on a freelance and full-time basis, as a writer and editor.

Daniel is a Norwich City fan and season ticket holder. He has been heard on BBC Norfolk and helped DAZN with research for their commentary due to his knowledge of the club, along with being featured in several local papers across the country, including the Coventry Telegraph and the Liverpool Echo, for Norwich-related content.

Daniel's knowledge extends to Scottish football, having covered Celtic and Rangers for several years. He particularly enjoys producing player analysis and producing transfer content.

Ipswich Town and Coventry City learned that Hull City will be joining them in the Premier League after the Tigers won the play-off final at Wembley on Saturday.

The Tractor Boys and the Sky Blues have a slight advantage over Hull heading into the summer transfer window because they have had an extra couple of weeks to prepare.

However, it all comes down to how they execute their transfer plans and if they can build a squad that is capable of competing in the top-flight.

This season, for example, Sunderland finished above both Leeds, who also stayed up, and Burnley, who were relegated, after winning the Championship play-offs last year.

Now, Ipswich and Coventry must take notes of how the Black Cats adapted to the Premier League ahead of their business in the summer window.

What Ipswich and Coventry can learn from Sunderland's Premier League success

Knowing that there is a big gulf in quality between the Championship and the Premier League, Sunderland decided to bring in several experienced additions.

Sunderland's Granit Xhaka celebrates after the match

They signed Nordi Mukiele from PSG for £9.5m and Granit Xhaka from Bayer Leverkusen for £13m, bringing in two players who have won titles in major European leagues and have bags of experience in the Champions League.

Xhaka, in particular, is the kind of signing Ipswich and Coventry need to make. He had played 225 games in the Premier League for Arsenal earlier in his career, which meant that he came in as an experienced player in the English top-flight.

The Switzerland international, who was described as the "driving force" of their season by pundit Micah Richards, helped to lead the team to survival and a fantastic first season back in the big time with his consistent displays in the middle of the park.

Now, Coventry are reportedly interested in signing a star who could be their own version of Sunderland's Xhaka signing, and Ipswich must rival them to his signature.

Ipswich must rival Coventry to their own Granit Xhaka signing

TEAMtalk recently reported that Coventry are keen to sign Manchester United playmaker Mason Mount on loan, as the Red Devils are prepared to sanction a temporary exit so that he can get back to his best.

The England international, who was not selected by Thomas Tuchel for the upcoming World Cup, ended the season with just 12 Premier League starts for United, as he struggled for minutes behind Bruno Fernandes in the number ten role.

Mount has plenty of experience in the Premier League, almost as much as Xhaka does, and would arrive at Coventry or Ipswich as a proven talent at that level, and someone who could be reasonably expected to deliver quality performances.

There is also the chance that one of them could help him to get back to his best, which was when he was at Chelsea and a regular for England at international level.

Mount racked up 33 goals and 37 assists in 195 appearances in all competitions for the Blues, winning the Champions League in 2021, and that included a return of 13 goals and 16 assists in the 2021/22 campaign.

Like Xhaka, the English star has been there and done it at the top level, winning domestic and European trophies, and would arrive as the most experienced player at Coventry or Ipswich.

Mount

Both of the promoted teams need players who can be relied upon week-in-week-out in the Premier League, and it remains to be seen whether or not Jack Rudoni or Marcelino Nunez have what it takes to perform in the top division.

Signing such a high-quality player like Mount, particularly on loan, would be a huge boost to Coventry or Ipswich if they could get a deal over the line in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Mount

Coventry have an edge over Ipswich with the attacking midfielder, though, as Frank Lampard coached him at Derby County and Chelsea, and could use his relationship with him to broker a move to the Sky Blues.

As unlikely as it may seem on paper, though, the Tractor Boys must push to beat Coventry to his signature this summer because he has all the hallmarks of a player who could be their own version of Xhaka at Portman Road.
