Ahead of the 2026 MLB trade deadline, Philadelphia Phillies All-Star Bryce Harper told reporters he wanted the team to be active adding both bats and arms this year. 

The Phillies have obliged with at least one bat , trading for three-time batting champion and two-time Silver Slugger Luis Arraez from the San Francisco Giants. 

Arraez could be a good addition to a Philadelphia lineup that has the eighth-lowest batting average in MLB but also has the eighth-most home runs. If the season ended today, Arraez would finish with a batting average over .300 for the fifth time in his career and his fourth-career batting title. Adding his contact prowess should give the Phillies lineup more of a threat when their power bats aren’t connecting.
