Robert Whittaker

Robert Whittaker recently revealed the only fighter in the UFC whom he calf-kicked and felt like he had broken his own foot.

Whittaker is one of the greatest middleweight fighters of all time. The Australian, who is now in the light heavyweight division, won the 185lbs belt back in July 2017, at UFC 213.

The opponent of Whittaker that night is the one ‘The Reaper’ addressed about being insanely strong, in a recent episode of Full Send MMA podcast. The fighter in question is Yoel Romero. The Cuban who is almost 50 now is still going strong, with his last fight taking place only a couple of months ago.

Although Whittaker won the fight against Romero that night, and eventually also the middleweight championship, he was unable to blast through ‘The Soldier of God”s durability, earning a close unanimous decision victory. The Australian again faced Romero the next year, winning only via a split decision.

On the recent episode of the podcast, alongside Jorge Masvidal, here is what Whittaker had to say about Romero:

He’s the only guy I’ve ever kicked, I calf kicked him, and I felt like I broke my foot, dude.

Jorge Masvidal attests to Robert Whittaker’s Take on Yoel Romero, Calls him ‘The Most Dense Guy’

Jorge Masvidal was quick to agree with Robert Whittaker’s take on Yoel Romero. Having trained with the Cuban often, Masvidal called him the ‘most dense guy’ he has ever trained with. He said:

He’s like the most dense guy I trained with. You hit somebody and it feels like, ‘Damn, I hit a f*cking wall.’

It is worth noting that Romero’s last fight was in Masvidal’s own promotion, Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA. The 49-year-old took on Alex Nicholson and earned a TKO win just 71 seconds into the very first round.
