Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayAfter recording a career-high 41 saves in the 2026 regular season, Tampa Bay Rays closer Bryan Baker looked like he might be losing control after throwing five straight balls in the bottom of the ninth in Game 3 of the ALDS against the Yankees on Wednesday night. But a well-timed mound visit was followed by a Jazz Chisholm Jr. fielder’s choice, a strikeout of Trent Grisham and a second Rays celebration at Yankee Stadium in 15 days.
Tampa Bay was the best team in the American League for the vast majority of the season, and after sweeping the Yankees, the Rays are just four wins away from advancing to the franchise’s third World Series.
Baker – who made his first All-Star appearance this year at age 31 – has been nails for Tampa Bay all season long. He made 65 total appearances and finished 52 games to go with this 41 saves, posting a 1.44 ERA with 63 strikeouts and just 22 walks in 62 1/3 innings.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Baker’s 41 saves were tied for the most in all of baseball this season. With that being said, can you name the pitchers to lead each of the major leagues in saves year by year since 2008?
Good luck!
