There we have it, Tottenham Hotspur finally have a batch of new forwards. Perhaps their performance this weekend will be a lot better than it was last Saturday.

A transfer window of three parts, one that saw them start with the defence, then shift to the midfield, and now to the attack, is almost done.

Savinho was officially confirmed as a new Spurs player on Tuesday and Omar Marmoush looks set to be confirmed on Wednesday or Thursday after undergoing a medical in north London.

So, what does the future hold for them at Tottenham?

Where Savinho and Marmoush will fit into the Spurs team

The less said about last summer the better. Spurs had a plan but missed out on a whole heap of targets from Eberechi Eze to Morgan Gibbs-White.

Still, the Lilywhites did settle on Mohammed Kudus and Xavi Simons. On paper, they were fine additions. However, football isn't played on paper and a year on, they have failed to really settle.

Kudus endured an injury-hit campaign and while the initial signs were positive, he did end his maiden campaign at Tottenham with just three goals in 26 games.

Likewise, Simons struggled. Now ruled out with an ACL injury, the Dutchman scored six goals and assisted seven. It wasn't disastrous but more was expected from one of the best young forwards in European football.

There will be a hope here that lightning does not strike twice with Savinho and Marmoush. Both proven in the Premier League, Roberto De Zerbi will need them to hit the ground running.

With Kudus still on the treatment table, it is likely that Savio - as he now wants to be known - will play out on the right flank. From that position he has dazzled for City, notably supplying as many as 13 assists in 2024/25.

For Marmoush, his role remains a tad unclear. He could replace Simons on the left or through the middle as more of a second striker. For now, however, you would have to presume he will lead the line as a centre-forward, taking over from Richarlison.

The Egyptian struggled for game time at the Etihad last term but did score 19 goals in 34 outings as a striker back in 2024/25.

Where the new signing plays, however, could boil down to what else Spurs do in the transfer market. They would like to sign another forward before next Tuesday's deadline.

How Spurs can sign the perfect partner for Marmoush

Savio and Marmoush may well be through the door but De Zerbi is not stopping there.

They are leading the race to sign Cody Gakpo and are primed to beat Manchester City to his signature if Liverpool open the doors for an exit.

Nicolas Jackson has also been the subject of interest but would appear to be on the verge of heading to Aston Villa as their replacement for the Saudi-bound Ollie Watkins.

So, with those moves looking unlikely, how about Jean-Philippe Mateta? According to a report from Football Insider, Spurs are 'ready to swoop' for the French striker after he made it known he is not particularly happy at Crystal Palace.

Indeed, over the last week, Mateta told Palace that he did not think the final year of his contract with the Eagles was valid. That argument originates from the fact that his last year was triggered as part of an automatic extension clause from his initial deal, and should not be considered legally binding. FIFA and the Premier League have listened but decided not to take any action.

So, Mateta no doubt feels a bit hard done by. A move to Tottenham could well be the perfect remedy for both him and De Zerbi.

Why? Well, this is "one of the best strikers in Europe" in the view of Wayne Rooney and he certainly knows a thing or two about finding the net at the elite level.

Mateta may not be on Rooney's level but he could be the perfect player to partner Marmoush in the final third at Spurs.

While the Egyptian loves scoring goals himself, he's also a fabulous creator. During his final six months at Frankfurt, the 27-year-old registered ten assists in 17 Bundesliga games. He ended the entire 2024/25 campaign with 17 assists to his name.

When taking into account his Bundesliga data from that term, Marmoush ranked among the top 2% of positionally similar players in Europe's big five leagues for big chances created from open play.

For a player like Mateta who always seems to be in the right place at the right time, this will be music to his ears. While his numbers have been on the decline in recent years - scoring 19 back in 2023/24 and 15 in 2025/26 - that is more down to a poor quality of finishing rather than anything else.

Last season, only five players in the league in 2025/26 had a higher xG over the course of the entire season. Meanwhile, per 90 minutes, only Erling Haaland and Bournemouth's Enes Unal bettered Mateta's xG tally of 0.59.

Combine the 29-year-old with the likes of Marmoush and Savinho and he could see his numbers soar again. Sure, he is no Haaland and the two new arrivals would have to get used to that, but he's stil very much one of the best goalscorers in English football.

Together, they could help each other settle into life at Tottenham with ease.
