After the Detroit Tigers dealt Tarik Skubal to the Los Angeles Dodgers, Baltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman was perhaps the biggest name available at the 2026 trade deadline. Despite appearing in just 67 games this season and currently on the injured list  with a wrist issue, the Boston Red Sox acquired the three-time All-Star from their division rivals on Monday.

The Red Sox have had a tumultuous season so far, firing Alex Cora on April 15 and sitting in last place in the AL East at 32-46 after an 8-6 loss to the Colorado Rockies on June 24. 

But welcoming the New York Yankees for a four-game series on June 25, they swept the Bronx Bombers and have been the hottest team in Major League Baseball since. They’ve improved to 60-51, climbed out of the basement of the American League East and are now just two games behind New York for the top AL wild-card spot. 

While it isn’t clear when Rutschman will be available to make his Red Sox debut, the three-time All-Star has a chance to slot in as a very valuable piece for Boston when he does return. 

Which brings us to today’s quiz.
