Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayHappy 81st birthday to six-time MLB All-Star, three-time Cy Young winner, three-time World Series champion and member of Pro Baseball Hall of Fame Class of 1990, Jim Palmer!
Identifiable by his iconic delivery, Palmer pitched his entire 19-year career with the Baltimore Orioles and is one of the greatest players in franchise history. He’s the franchise’s all-time leader in starts (521), wins (268), complete games (211), shutouts (53) and strikeouts (2,212).
He’s also the only player to win a World Series in three different decades, winning the Fall Classic in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s during his time in Baltimore. He was honored as the American League’s best pitcher three times in four years from 1973-76 and won two ERA titles in that span.
Palmer finally hung up his cleats after the 1984 campaign, and six years later he was enshrined in Cooperstown, New York among the other titans of the sport.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. How many of the pitchers to hold the all-time record for strikeouts for each MLB franchise can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
