Savage carried legitimate power into the Matchroom Boxing main event. All 11 of his professional victories had come by knockout, giving Teremoana an opponent capable of punching back rather than another heavyweight picked merely to absorb punishment.

Teremoana never allowed him to establish that threat.

The Australian started behind his power, forcing Savage onto the defensive and hurting him during the opening round. Savage survived, but his legs had already given Teremoana the information he needed.

The finish followed quickly in the second.

Teremoana stepped into distance and landed the shot that dropped Savage heavily to the canvas. The American could not beat the referee’s count, handing Teremoana another early knockout and the strongest victory of his professional career.

Savage entered with enough punching authority to demand disciplined distance management, yet Teremoana controlled the exchanges before Savage could establish his own offense.

There was plenty of Cook Islands flavour before the opening bell. Teremoana walked toward the ring accompanied by dancers wearing traditional pareu kiri’au, then switched quickly from ceremony to business once the bell sounded.

The heavyweight’s professional career has barely required him to work beyond the opening rounds. Savage became only the third opponent to take him into the second, and even that resistance lasted only briefly.

That remains both Teremoana’s biggest weapon and the question that tougher opposition must eventually answer. His power can wipe out mistakes immediately, but the next level demands jab discipline, sharper distance control and a gas tank capable of carrying his pressure deep into a fight.

Savage never kept him there long enough to find out.
