Taj Gibson has retired from his playing career and has been hired by the Chicago Bulls as an assistant coach under Tiago Splitter.

Gibson was recently waived by the New Orleans Pelicans following his trade from the Memphis Grizzlies. Gibson had signed a multi-year contract with the Grizzlies in February.

Gibson appeared in 10 games with Memphis in his age-40 season, averaging 3.4 points and 2.7 rebounds in 9.7 minutes.
