The Phoenix Suns plan to waive two-way guard Koby Brea, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. The move would open a two-way roster spot as Phoenix looks to add frontcourt depth with center Mark Williams injured to start the 2026-27 season.

The Phoenix Suns plan to waive two-way guard Koby Brea, league sources told @hoopshype. Brea shot 43.3% from 3-point range in 12 games with the Suns last season. With center Mark Williams injured to start the season, Phoenix will look to add frontcourt depth on the two-way market

Brea, who re-signed with Phoenix on a two-way contract on July 6, appeared in 12 NBA games last season. He averaged 3.8 points, 0.7 rebounds and 0.8 assists in 7.1 minutes per game, shooting 41.7% from the field and 43.3% from three-point range. He made 43.3% of his three-point attempts, providing perimeter shooting in a limited role.

The guard also spent time with the Valley Suns, Phoenix’s G League affiliate. In 34 games, he averaged 16.4 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 34.1 minutes per game, shooting 39.8% overall and 34.9% from beyond the arc.

Brea entered the NBA after playing his final college season at Kentucky in 2024-25. He averaged 11.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 36 games, shooting 47.0% from the field and 43.5% from three-point range. Before transferring to Kentucky, he played four seasons at Dayton.

Phoenix’s decision comes as the team manages Williams’ injury. The center signed a three-year, $38 million contract to remain with the Suns in June, but his availability to start the season has created a need for additional frontcourt options.

The Suns finished 45-37 in 2025-26 and retooled their roster during the offseason, including acquiring Miles Bridges from the Charlotte Hornets and signing Luke Kennard.
