Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors have agreed to a two-year deal for Kerr to remain the team's head coach. Kerr's contract was set to expire at the end of the league year, but he'll now return for his 13th and 14th seasons leading the Warriors. This new two-year deal will keep Kerr as the NBA's highest-paid head coach.

Kerr became Golden State's head coach at the start of the 2015-16 season. In his first season as a head coach, Kerr led Golden State to a 67-15 record and the 2026 NBA title. That was the first of five straight Finals trips for the Warriors, which delivered two more championships in 2017 and 2018.

Kerr then led the Warriors back to the NBA Finals and the title in 2022. Since then, Golden State has missed the playoffs in two of the last four seasons.

The two-year extension will carry Kerr one year beyond the contracts for the teams three key veterans: Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler. It's expected that Curry and Green, who teamed with Kerr for all four championships, will sign extensions to keep them in Golden State beyond this upcoming season.
