Steve Kerr is entering the 2026-27 season with confidence about what the Golden State Warriors can accomplish, even if he is not ready to define exactly what would make the campaign successful.

Rather than setting a specific win total or postseason target, Kerr wants Golden State to focus on rebuilding its foundation and establishing positive habits from the beginning.

“If we can really lock in on a great process, which I’m very confident we will, we can get off to a good start and build some momentum,” Kerr said.

“That’s my main goal. To just kind of rebuild everything, get back to our roots and have a great camp, and see where it all takes us. But I’m very confident we can have a great year.”

One of the biggest questions entering training camp will be how Kerr constructs his starting lineup and rotation.

No. 11 overall pick Yaxel Lendeborg has already impressed the organization enough to be considered for a starting role.

“We’ve added some good players with Yaxel, Georges Niang, and believe Brandon Williams can help us,” Kerr said. “Our young guys obviously had a great summer, winning Summer League and really putting in a lot of work.

“The biggest things are figuring out who’s going to start, and what’s the rotation going to look like? Can Yaxel play the three with Draymond (Green) at the four, with Kristaps (Porzingis) or Al (Horford) at the five? What would that look like? We’ll have a lot of time to determine that.”

Kerr will use training camp to experiment with different frontcourt combinations before finalizing his rotation.
