Tottenham Hotspur have been by far the busiest side in the Premier League so far this summer. They've spent over £200m, welcomed six fresh faces, and are only just getting started.

Up next could be the addition of a new shot-stopper amid concerns that Gulielmo Vicario could still head for the exit door, and that could see Juventus' Michele Di Gregorio arrive.

One way or another, Di Gregorio looks to be on the move this summer. His agent has publicly slammed Juventus and that has left the door wide open for an exit. As things stand, it looks like it's Tottenham who could take full advantage, launching a serious move to sign the goalkeeper.

The deal won't be an expensive one, either. Juventus are reportedly demanding just €15m (£13m) to sell their unhappy goalkeeper this summer. Compared to the transfer fees that Spurs have already spent recently, that should be lightwork for those in North London.

The 28-year-old is solid without being spectacular. As a No.1, Spurs could do better, but as a backup, Di Gregorio would be the perfect option for De Zeri.

If Spurs swoop in and sign Di Gregorio, then it could impact Aston Villa the most, with Juventus' interest in Emiliano Martinez likely to increase more than ever in the absence of their shot-stopper.

Tottenham have wasted no time so far this summer. What they've wanted, they've got almost every time, and a move for Di Gregorio could end in similar fashion.

Tottenham launch serious move for Di Gregorio

As reported by Calciomercato IT and relayed by Sport Witness, Tottenham have launched a serious move to sign Di Gregorio, who is unhappy at Juventus.

The Turin club are reportedly ready to sanction an exit if an offer worth €15m (£13m) arrives and that is certainly within Tottenham's financial reach.

The goalkeeper's agent publicly hit out at Juventus earlier in the window and it's since become clear that his client is desperate for a move.

Di Gregorio cannot become Spurs' No.1

As much as Roberto De Zerbi admires Di Gregorio, he is not good enough to become the No.1 in North London. The Lilywhites would be welcoming a downgrade in a summer full of upgrades if the 28-year-old replaced Vicario. Even for £13m, the Juventus man must arrive as a backup and backup only.

The numbers show that Spurs do need a new shot-stopper, but they also highlight why Di Gregorio should not be that man. Compared to Vicario, the Juventus goalkeeper made less saves last season and even with a better save percentage, his overall performance was not significantly better.

If Spurs want to match this summer's ambition between the sticks, then an option like James Trafford should take priority instead.
