When Tottenham Hotspur confirmed the signing of Mason Melia back in February for what is believed to be an Irish Premier League record fee, few outside Ireland had heard of the teenage forward. Fast forward to his final home appearance for St. Patrick’s Athletic, and Melia’s name is now buzzing among Spurs fans eager to see what all the hype is about.

The Ireland U21 international capped his farewell at Richmond Park perfectly, scoring his 13th goal of the season in a confident display that underlined exactly why Tottenham made their move early.

Melia, just 17, departs as one of St. Pat’s most exciting academy graduates.
