LeBron James has yet to decide where he will play during the 2026-27 season, although it is already known that he will not be returning to the Los Angeles Lakers.

According to James’ agent, Rich Paul, 27 of the NBA’s other 29 teams have contacted them since free agency began.

Among those franchises, six reportedly believe they have a legitimate opportunity to sign the league’s all-time leading scorer.

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors have long been viewed as potential destinations, even before James announced he was leaving Los Angeles.

They are joined by the Philadelphia 76ers, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Denver Nuggets, all of whom reportedly believe they remain in contention.

Each of those organizations is expected to offer James a chance to compete for another NBA championship.

However, his contract situation could prove challenging, as several of those teams have limited financial flexibility.

The Cavaliers and Warriors still have avenues to create additional salary-cap space and could potentially offer James more than a veteran minimum contract.

Meanwhile, the 76ers, Heat, Timberwolves, and Nuggets would likely need to make unexpected roster or financial moves to present a more lucrative offer.
