UFC star Sean O’Malley has given his thoughts on the UFC 333 bantamweight title fight between Petr Yan and Merab Dvalishvili.

In the co-main event of UFC 333, Petr Yan and Merab Dvalishvili will collide for the third time with the UFC bantamweight championship on the line. Dvalishvili dominated their first encounter, whereas Yan was able to return the favor in the rematch to win back the belt.

One man who knows what it’s like to be in there with both men is Sean O’Malley. He defeated Yan in a tight bout a few years back, whereas he lost both of his showdowns with Dvalishvili.

In a recent interview, O’Malley broke down how he can see this one playing out.

“It would be nice (if Yan wins),” O’Malley told UFC on Paramount.

“If Merab goes out there and wins, I would love to get that trilogy but it’s not what the fans want, no ones super interested in that fight right now, so it would be a great birthday present if Yan goes out there and wins.

“Most people’s favorite fighter’s favorite fighter is Yan… Man, I think it’s gonna be hard to go out there and beat Petr, I think Merab’s best, you know, if we didn’t see what happened last fight I’d be like, ‘Merab’s gas-tank is crazy’, Petr’s gas-tank is crazy, he broke Merab in the later rounds, so it’s hard not to go with Petr right now.

“I just think skill for skill Petr is better and it’s gonna be whoever shows up healthier and Merab’s dealing with that nose, so I’m leaning towards Petr,” he continued.
