Orgo-Life the new way to the future

The Miami Marlins are making their presence known in the NL East following a significant turnaround in their performance in June. The Marlins started June eight games under .500 and 14 games behind the Atlanta Braves in the division and six games behind a wild-card spot.

Since the start of June, they've completely transformed their season. They are now nine games over .500 and have logged an MLB best 25-8 record since June 1. They are just 2.5 games behind the Braves in the NL East and are two games ahead of the St. Louis Cardinals for the final wild-card spot.

The Marlins have won five consecutive games and six consecutive home series, with a 30-17 record at LoanDepot Park.

Their most recent 2-0 victory came against the Seattle Mariners on July 8 to secure another series win, with Pete Fairbanks picking up this 13th save on the season. The Marlins are now 15-2 across their last 17 home games. They've also won nine of their last 11 series.

Their 51-42 record is better than the New York Yankees 50-42 record, and the Marlins payroll of $78 million is significantly less than the Yankees $292 million payroll. Their 51 wins are the second-most wins in Marlins' history before the All-Star Break.

Miami's catching duo of Liam Hicks and rookie Joe Mack have been producing well at the plate.

Hicks is having a solid breakout campaign (.288/.361/.460 with 13 homers and 56 RBI) while Mack has provided the Marlins with consistent run prevention as well as stable production (seven homers, 23 RBI) since making his debut on May 4.

The Marlins also have three infielders batting .278 or better and two batting over .300. Xavier Edwards and Otto Lopez have been the Marlins top offensive leaders who have provided a spark on the basepaths with 17 stolen bags from Lopez and 13 from Edwards.

Lopez also leads the Marlins with a .345 batting average, 126 hits and a .518 slugging percentage, while Edwards on-base percentage of .386 is the best on the team and he holds a .303 batting average and 102 hits.

Lopez is also the first player in MLB with 40 multi-hit games and tied the franchise record for the most hits (126) prior to the All-Star Break. He earned his first All-Star nod along with right-handed starter Max Meyer.

Meyer owns a stellar 9-1 record with a 2.58 ERA and 116 strikeouts this season. But the Marlins success doesn't end there, as they also have an emerging talent with outfielder Owen Caissie. He has crushed 12 home runs this season and has been a strong contributor in their recent hot streak.

Caissie just landed on the 10-day injury list with a right calf injury, and the Marlins have recalled Rece Hinds from Triple-A Jacksonville. While a big loss, they placed him on the IL as a precautionary decision as they will continue to further evaluate his injury. The injury is pegged as mild and hopefully won't leave him absent for too long as he's been a reliable offensive force in the lineup.

Regardless, the Marlins are rolling and are in position to be a surprise postseason participant.
