July 11 card featuring Anthony Olascuaga will be rescheduled after organizers cited logistical concerns

IVB Boxing has canceled its planned July 11 event in San Francisco less than five weeks before fight night. The card, which was promoted as a potential record-attendance boxing event, was scrapped due to logistical issues, though organizers say the fights will be rescheduled.

“Due to growing logistical concerns, it is with regret that the event schedule has been canceled,” IVB Boxing stated on social media.

“The previously announced card will still be taking place with a new date and venue to be confirmed in the coming days. Full refunds will be made to all that purchased tickets.”

The event was expected to be headlined by WBO flyweight champion Anthony Olascuaga defending his title against Andy Dominguez. Charly Suarez and heavyweight contender Gurgen Hovhannisyan were also slated to appear on the card.

IVB Boxing founder Ed Pereira launched the event with support from San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie under the slogan “History in the Making.”

Organizers hoped to surpass the reported boxing attendance record of 132,135 spectators set in 1941 when Tony Zale faced Billy Pryor at Juneau Park in Milwaukee. Tickets reportedly started at $60, while the majority of seats were expected to be distributed free of charge.

A launch press conference was held aboard a yacht in San Francisco Bay on May 7, with promoter Sampson Lewkowicz among those involved in promoting the event.

Pereira’s stated goal was to surpass the reported attendance mark of 132,135 spectators set in 1941 for Tony Zale’s fight with Billy Pryor in Milwaukee.

IVB Boxing says the card itself has not been scrapped and that a new venue and date will be announced in the coming days.
