Ryan Garcia believes Conor Benn enters their September 12 bout completely unaware of what awaits him inside the ring. While the British contender built his reputation on non-stop pressure and physicality, Garcia insists raw strength alone will not be enough. Instead, he expects Benn to encounter a level of speed and timing he has never experienced.

“I mean, if you watch the fights, look it, he won them, but there’s nothing that I see in any of those fights that makes me believe that he’s at this level,” Garcia said to Ring Magazine. “There’s going to be a clear distinction in experience, talent and levels of boxing in the ring. He’s going to be getting hit with punches he usually doesn’t get hit with. He’s going to see a lot of the attempts he does is not going to work.”

The former interim champion views Benn’s aggressive style as familiar territory. Pressure fighters have been coming after him since his amateur days, leaving WBC welterweight champion Ryan convinced that Benn’s approach brings nothing he hasn’t already handled countless times in the gym.

“I think that he has so much… he’s just so oblivious that he’s just going to think that he could just go in there and try to maul me. But he’s going to know that I’ve had guys like this since I was a little kid, bro. Ever since I was like 12 years old in these gyms, they just send people to come after me and rough me up. I’ve been fighting these type of fighters because everybody thinks I’m some type of punk in the gyms my whole life.”

Benn’s recent opposition also drew criticism from Garcia, who argued it has not prepared him for an opponent with his speed. He even rated Oscar Duarte above Benn stylistically, pointing to Duarte’s work with elite fighters in Southern California while questioning whether Benn has received that same level of preparation in Britain.

Ryan’s confidence leaves little room for uncertainty. He said he would consider anything less than an early stoppage a disappointment, predicting Benn will not make it beyond the fifth round.
