Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayRyan Garcia has given himself five rounds to knock out Conor Benn when he defends his WBC welterweight title on September 12 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Garcia isn’t merely picking himself to win. He set a deadline that puts pressure on his own performance against a fighter who has never been stopped as a professional.
“I feel like if I don’t knock him out within five rounds, I’ll be a little disappointed in myself,” Garcia said to the media. “But I am still going to beat the f—k out of him and hopefully knock him out later. I am training to knock him out under five. This fight is five and below. I’m here to become a legend.”
That prediction involves some risk considering Ryan has recorded only one knockout in the past four years, stopping Oscar Duarte in round eight in December 2023.
Ryan’s fights with Gervonta Davis, Devin Haney, Rolando Rolly Romero and Mario Barrios all went beyond the five-round limit he has set for Benn.
Benn has proven durable throughout his career. His lone professional defeat came by decision against Chris Eubank Jr. in April 2025, and he returned seven months later to defeat the naturally larger fighter in their rematch.
Garcia believes Benn will give him more opportunities than Barrios provided in February.
“I actually think that Barrios, stylistically, was a harder fight,” Ryan said.
Benn’s aggression plays directly into Ryan’s strongest weapon. Countering opponents with his left hook as they press forward remains his most dangerous sequence.
The self-imposed deadline leaves Garcia with a standard of his own making. If Benn survives into round six, Garcia will have already missed the mark he set for himself
