Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayTrainer Robert Garcia has given Shakur Stevenson a slight edge over Devin Haney in a potential future showdown.
Haney and Stevenson have publicly expressed interest in facing one another, with recent discussions centering on a possible bout at a 144-pound catchweight.
“It’s a great matchup for both because they’re both very smart,” Robert Garcia told Fight Hub TV. “They don’t make mistakes, and the first one that makes a mistake, the other one’s going to take advantage of it.”
Although Robert repeatedly stressed how difficult the fight is to call, he ultimately leaned toward Stevenson.
“It’s a tough fight. Tough one, bro,” Garcia said. “But I think I would have to, man, by a very slight difference, I probably think Shakur.”
Robert explained that Haney’s willingness to engage could provide Stevenson with opportunities.
“What I like about Haney is that he’s the one willing to take that chance. He’s the one willing to take that risk,” Garcia said. “I think Shakur takes advantage of it.”
“I think they’re both going to be very smart, but whenever it comes to who’s going to be the first to take that chance, I think Haney does,” he added. “I think he’s a little more aggressive when it comes to taking that chance, just like he did against Ryan and he’s done before. He did against Loma.”
Garcia contrasted that approach with Stevenson’s more measured style.
“I think Shakur is too smart,” Robert said. “He just does enough to know he’s winning, and he’ll go like that the whole fight.”
Neither fighter has officially announced the bout, though Stevenson has recently indicated that he is pushing for the contest, while Haney has publicly shown interest in making it happen.
Should the fight materialize, Robert expects a closely contested battle between two of boxing’s most skilled tacticians, with Stevenson holding only the slightest advantage.
