The Boston Red Sox haven't had the season they hoped for at the beginning of the year, but there's still plenty of baseball to be played.

With the All-Star break in the rearview mirror, Chad Tracy's team still has a chance to make the playoffs, and the next week could make or break their entire season.

They're currently sitting on a 46-48 record and 10.0 games behind the division-leading Tampa Bay Rays.

However, with the postseason technically still in play, they might change their plans for the Aug. 3 trade deadline. According to MLB insider Jon Morosi, that includes potentially trading Aroldis Chapman.

"The Red Sox open the 2nd half with a 40.1% chance of reaching the postseason, per FanGraphs," Morosi shared on X. "An Aroldis Chapman trade is increasingly unlikely to happen at all."

The Red Sox are still below .500, but they were one of the hottest teams before the break.

Winners of nine consecutive games, they now find themselves just 0.5 games behind in the American League Wild Card race.

They'll kick off the weekend with a series against the Rays, so they will have a prime opportunity to close the gap even further if they can keep the momentum going.

Chapman may not be the same flamethrower he was in his heyday, but he's turned back the clock and played some of his best baseball this season.

According to Baseball Reference, the 38-year-old southpaw has logged 19 saves in 28.2 innings of work, posting a 2.20 ERA in 30 appearances.

The Red Sox will most definitely get plenty of calls for the Cuban star, but they may not be as motivated to listen to offers as they could've been a couple of weeks ago.
