There haven't been many seasons where the Tampa Bay Rays front office has decided to be aggressive at the MLB trade deadline.

That may change this season as Tampa Bay's trade deadline plans may have been revealed on Wednesday.

Will the Rays actually be aggressive?

According to MLB insider Ken Rosenthal, Tampa Bay has given every indication that it will be aggressive in making moves ahead of the Aug. 3 trade deadline.

“I think the big surprise will be Tampa buying big,” one rival executive said. “They’re everywhere scouting.”

When looking into some of the biggest trades in franchise history, the Rays have almost never historically been aggressive and made a splash ahead of the deadline, something that may finally change this season.

Who fits the Tampa Bay way?

According to Rosenthal, Tampa Bay wants to add more pitching, as well as an impact bat. One place it could go for both of those needs would be the Minnesota Twins with Joe Ryan and Ryan Jeffers.

Another team the Rays could send out feelers to would be the New York Mets, as nearly every player on the roster will be available. A deal for Brooks Raley or Clay Holmes along with an outfield bat in Luis Robert Jr. could be a possibility.

Whatever the decision may be, the urgency from the Rays front office is a welcome sight and could be exactly what the team needs to make its first deep postseason run since reaching the World Series in 2020.
