Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayO’Shaquie Foster says the losses early in his career came during a learning period, while Raymond Ford believes he can dominate and potentially stop the WBC super featherweight champion when they meet this weekend in Houston.
Matchroom Boxing followed both fighters in training camp ahead of the fight, with Foster’s team praising his conditioning, work ethic, and ring IQ as they prepare for Ford’s challenge.
“At least when I lost it was like a lot of circumstances,” said Foster. “I won’t make no excuses, I lost to some bums. But bro, what’s your excuse?”
Foster’s coaches also pointed to the growth he has made since those defeats, saying the version of him that lost earlier in his career is far different from the fighter holding the WBC title today.
Ford, meanwhile, trained at the J. Prince Boxing Gym and said he expects to control the fight rather than get dragged into a difficult battle with Foster.
“Hopefully, I’m expecting a dominating performance,” said Ford. “I’m not really expecting like a tough, hard fight. I’m not going in there to make it a tough fight, trying to make it as easy as possible.”
Ford also said he believes a stoppage is possible based on their common opponent, former title challenger Abraham Nova.
“I definitely feel I can stop him,” said Ford. “Look at his fight with Nova and look at my fight with Nova.”
The Matchroom Boxing feature gave a short behind-the-scenes look at both camps as Foster prepares for another title defense against one of the bigger fights of Ford’s career.
