The Toronto Raptors have exercised Jamal Shead’s $2.30 million team option for the 2026-27 season, according to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto. The move keeps one of Toronto’s key rotation guards under contract after he appeared in every regular-season game during his second NBA campaign.

Shead played all 82 games for the Raptors in 2025-26, including 12 starts, while averaging 6.6 points, 5.4 assists, 1.7 rebounds and 0.9 steals in 22.6 minutes per game. He shot 36.7% from the field, 32.1% from three-point range and 78.4% from the free-throw line.

Availability became one of Shead’s biggest strengths. He was one of only a handful of Raptors to appear in all 82 regular-season games, providing consistent depth behind starting point guard Immanuel Quickley. Toronto relied on Shead to organize the second unit, and his 5.4 assists per game ranked second on the roster behind Quickley’s 5.9 while coming in nearly 10 fewer minutes per contest.

Toronto finished the regular season 46-36, good for fifth place in the Eastern Conference, before pushing the Cleveland Cavaliers to seven games in the opening round of the playoffs. The Raptors ultimately fell 4-3, but their return to the postseason marked progress for a young core led by Scottie Barnes, Brandon Ingram and Quickley.

The decision to pick up Shead’s option also comes as Toronto reshapes its roster following the 2026 NBA Draft. The Raptors selected forward Allen Graves with the No. 19 overall pick before adding veteran guard Jaden Bradley at No. 50 in the second round, giving the organization additional depth without altering its established backcourt hierarchy.
