After missing out on the Scottish Premiership and publicly falling out with club captain James Tavernier to sour his emotional farewell from Rangers, it would be easy to assume there's some doubt creeping in about Danny Rohl's tenure.
Yet, all it takes is some early transfer business at Ibrox for that idea to become a non-starter.
The 49ers are instantly backing their man ahead of his first full season in charge and with Lawrence Shankland already through the door, they've shifted their focus towards defensive upgrades.
Rangers hold talks to sign Tavernier replacement
Ask Rohl how he plans to replace Tavernier and it's likely that he gives you a simple answer, as if it's not complicated at all.
As if the right-back didn't spend over ten years putting up numbers more familiar with a winger than a defender at Ibrox. Alas, the truth is that finding a replacement for the 34-year-old should sit near the very top of Rangers' priority list.
The Gers have already flirted with a few potential additions on that front. Josh Windass would certainly help replace Tavernier's experience, but would do so from midfield.
Shankland will love him: Rangers want to sign £40m "superstar" on loan
Rangers could enter the loan market to pick up an impressive young talent.
Casper Widell has also threatened to steal the headlines and provide Rohl with another young defender. Neither should be the priority, however.
Instead, Hampus Skoglund is one to watch. According to Rangers News, Ibrox chiefs have held talks to sign Skoglund from Hammarby this summer, with a number of meetings already held between the two parties.
Now, there's the small matter of an offer. Rangers have already established plenty of contact and it's up to them to turn that contact into a serious bid to welcome their Tavernier replacement.
Why Rangers should push to sign Skoglund instead of Widell
As soon as Rohl dropped Tavernier to the bench in his final game at Ibrox, it should have been clear that he wants a new, improved right-back this summer. It was a game which very nearly saw fans turn, but a game that still ended with the manager standing tall in the technical area.
It now seems like Skoglund could very much be his man. The 22-year-old has played a consistent role for Hammarby in Sweden, starting 10 of 11 Allsvenskan games, losing just three times in the process.
Standing at 5 foot 11, Skoglund can also play left-back - killing two birds with one stone for Rangers - and providing a more unique threat than Tavernier at full-back.

The numbers make for good reading as far as Skoglund is concerned. Whilst he doesn't provide the same threat going forward as Tavernier, he is better defensively and Rohl will be the first to appreciate that aspect of his game.
Only two sides conceded more goals than the Gers in the top six last season. It was ultimately their downfall in pursuit of title success and why the focus has been defensive upgrades.
It's worth noting that Widell would be unlikely to solve the problem as emphatically as Skoglund, too. The centre-back is not at the level to step in for Emmanuel Fernandez and take his place. The situation at centre-back is simply not as desperate as it is at full-back.
The clear priority simply has to be finding a Tavernier upgrade, who can stop the rot down that right-hand side and improve Rangers defensively. Skoglund would do exactly that.
Better than Dan Neil: Rangers line up move to sign the SPFL's "best midfielder"
Dan Neil is not the only midfielder Rangers are interested in bringing to Ibrox this summer.
