Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Hall of Famer and Professional Fighters League (PFL) broadcaster Randy Couture was airlifted to a burn center in Kansas City, Mo., following a serious accident during a National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) practice run today (Weds., July 9, 2025)

The 62-year-old sustained first- and second-degree burns, trauma injuries, and smoke inhalation after crashing his 1937 Chevy Pro Mod vehicle, which was completely wrecked in the incident, according to TMZ Sports, which first reported the news.

Couture, who was preparing for his NHRA Pro Mod debut later this year, remains hospitalized but is expected to make a full recovery, his spokesperson confirmed to MMA Junkie. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, with no further details released as of today.

The former two-division UFC champion had postponed his anticipated NHRA debut at the American Rebel Light Virginia NHRA Nationals in June 2025, citing the need for more preparation. “This is a new way to tickle that competitive spirit I’ve had most of my life,” Couture told TMZ in a prior interview. “I’ll bring all the things I developed as a wrestler and martial artist into this realm and see what we can do. I’m excited about the opportunities.”

Couture retired from mixed martial arts (MMA) in 2011 after suffering a knockout to Lyoto Machida at UFC 129
