Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayThe MLB trade deadline is just hours away and teams began making deals with a bit of urgency on Monday.
The Philadelphia Phillies were in the market for bullpen help and went to the division rival New York Mets to get help in that department.
Brooks Raley is headed from New York to Philadelphia
According to MLB insider Bob Nightengale, left-handed reliever Brooks Raley has been traded from the Mets to the Phillies. In return, the Mets will receive prospects Luke Gabrysh (RHP) and John Spikerman (OF).
The trade for Raley came just minutes after it was reported that Philadelphia was in agreement to acquire second baseman Luis Arraez from the San Francisco Giants.
Dave Dombrowski and the Philadelphia front office have had a busy morning to say the least.
Brooks Raley is having an outstanding season
Raley made his final appearance as a Met on Sunday and retired the side on just eight pitches.
It was his 45th appearance this season and Raley has been outstanding in nearly every single one of them. He's pitched to a 1.96 ERA with 40 strikeouts across 41 1/3 innings pitched.
Raley has allowed just one run since June 25 and has allowed multiple runs in an inning just twice all season.

Arraez and Raley are two massive additions to a Philadelphia team that has struggled mightily since the All-Star Break.
More moves may be coming, and the Phillies appear to be making every move necessary to try and knock off the two-time defending World Series champions.
