Nottingham Forest have now made an approach to sign AS Monaco star Lamine Camara, who could be brought in to replace Elliot Anderson.

Anderson made his Man City debut in the Community Shield against Arsenal on Sunday, but it didn't exactly go as planned, with Mikel Arteta's side prevailing 3-0 at Wembley.

Following the Englishman's departure, the Tricky Trees signed Xaver Schlager from RB Leipzig on a free transfer, but considering they raised £116m from selling Anderson, Evangelos Marinakis should have ample funds to sign a big-money replacement.

Camara has a price tag of £65m, which means they may have to blitz their existing transfer record to get a deal over the line, after shelling out £37.5m to sign Omari Hutchinson from Ipswich Town last summer.

The central midfielder is comfortable in possession, averaging 50.9 accurate passes per 90 in Ligue 1 last season, and 2.9 accurate long balls per 90, with the latter figure ranking him first in the AS Monaco squad.

Ranking

2.

4.

Como scout Ben Mattinson has also praised the Senegalese maestro for his ability in duels, saying: "Lamine Camara is a phenomenal ground dueller. His upper body strength enables him to ride challenges well.

"Camara anticipates contact exceptionally, using his body and arms to shield the ball whilst under pressure from players."

Last week, it was revealed that Nottingham Forest were readying a move for Camara, and they have now made a formal enquiry, Football FanCast sources understand.

However, Forest may have to fend off interest from some top Premier League clubs, with Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United also in the race for his signature.

Much like Anderson, who provided four goals and four assists in the Premier League last season, the Monaco star also has a keen eye for scoring goals and creating chances, getting on the scoresheet three times in Ligue 1, and providing four assists.

Moreover, the midfielder's average of 50.9 accurate passes per 90 was a higher number than any Forest player managed in the Premier League, except for Anderson, and he is an experienced international, collecting 37 caps for Senegal.

As such, Camara could be the ideal replacement for Anderson, and Forest should be able to splash the cash before the transfer deadline, having raised £116m from selling their star midfielder.
